M. Fethi Debbabi
UN Secretary-General António Guterres has appointed Fethi Debbabi of Tunisia as Director of the United Nations Information Center in Rabat, which covers Morocco. Mr. Debbabi took office on June 17, 2019.
From 2007 to 2016, Mr. Debbabi served as Deputy Director and Acting Director, respectively, of the United Nations Information Center in Cairo. He was the Acting Director from 2008 to 2010, then again from 2013 to 2014.
Before starting his career at the United Nations, Mr. Debbabi worked in Tunisia, where he was, from 1999 to 2007, the Communications and External Relations Coordinator of the Observatory of the Sahara and the Sahel, an intergovernmental organization. From 1992 to 1999, he also held the post of Chargé de Mission to the Minister of the Environment and Director of Environmental Awareness and Education. Previously, Mr. Debbabi worked in journalism and was Editor-in-Chief at Radio Monastir from 1990 to 1992.
