M. Raphael Obonyo
Raphael Obonyo is a multi award winning youth advocate at the national, regional and international levels.
He is the co-founder of a number of community and youth-led initiatives including The Youth Congress, a premier youth-led organization in Kenya.
Obonyo currently serves on the board of World Bank’s Global Youth Network, Global Diplomatic Forum, Africa Leadership Institute’s project Pakati, Boma Pan African among others. In addition he is an alumnus of the UN Habitat’s Youth Advisory Board, Les Aspin Institute of Governance and Leadership and the Ford Foundation International Fellowship Program.
He holds a Masters in Public Policy from Duke University. He is an adjunct professor at Brandeis University where he teaches International Youth Policy. He is a Ford Foundation Fellow.
He has authored and coauthored numerous book, including Conversations about the Youth in Kenya. He is a Tedx Fellow.

The African youth we want. (Intergenerational dialogue format)
This panel will cover the main characteristics youths should have to partake in the decision making. It will also host an intergenerational dialogue to break the existing between both parties and help deepen their relationship as they learn how to accept and work with each other. To achieve this endeavor, it’s of paramount importance to honor the following requirements: Include youth in decision-making processes. Honor the youth voice. Understand and implement their honest opinions and ideas. Be willing to share your adult power and privilege in order to make the community a better place for both young people and adults alike.
